Eight Injured in Bus and Pickup Truck Collision on SR 80 in Alva, FL

Alva, FL (May 26, 2026) – Eight people were reported hurt following a bus and pickup truck collision in Alva on Tuesday, May 26. The roadway incident occurred around 6:08 a.m. at the intersection of First Street and State Road 80.

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that a 2011 Freightliner B2 bus was traveling north on First Street and attempted to make a left turn onto State Road 80. The bus stopped in the paved median, but a portion of its rear remained in the eastbound lane. A car traveling east on State Road 80 then struck the rear-left side of the bus.

Seven adult passengers aboard the bus were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries. The 31-year-old bus driver from Arcadia was not hurt. The 64-year-old pickup driver from Lehigh Acres was also taken to a hospital after being injured.
